module 2 question 2

Module 2 Question 2 Reference management

The software that I chose was Endnote. I chose this program for several reasons. First, this is the program that is recommended by the Eccles library. Second, the Eccles library provides free classes on how to use the program and lastly, because I am a student may buy it at a discounted rate. Luckily in one of my other courses (6000), held an Endnote tutorial taught by Jeanne Le Ber from the Eccles Library. She was able to introduce the program and give an overview of the features. I was amazed at how easy it appeared to be. I found it particularly useful that you could search for articles from within the Endnote program and export them directly to my library (it is a bit tricky to export the citations from PubMed but exportation from CINAHL is very straightforward). Once the citations have been transported into the program it allows you to file in custom libraries for easy access. I have two favorite features of Endnote the first is the programs ability to retrieve the full text of an article and the second is the APA bibliography. Both of these features are bound so save me countless hours of digging through my APA manual. I am only disappointed that I was not introduced to Endnote until now. I could have used this program the last two semesters and saved myself a lot of work.
